What is process design simulation?

Process design simulation is a tool that uses data to design manufacturing systems to meet known output demands. If you are considering taking on a new product line or customer and have an idea what demand may be, you can use simulation to design a process to meet those demands. You really have only two choices: either you may simply change the process physically and hope for the desired results, or you may model and design the process to achieve the desired results before changes are made. Process design simulation can help you determine in advance things such as the number of employees or machines, operational speeds, and space requirements needed to meet your requirements, among other factors.

What are the benefits of process design simulation?

Implementing process design simulation can

  • provide a systematic, cost-effective means of designing new or modifying existing processes based on the data generated and priorities developed internally, while utilizing both in-house and external resources to carry out the design process.
  • provide objective data to aid in the decision-making process before costly changes or investments are made. ยท determine in advance up-front costs that can be used either in purchasing negotiations or to pass costs on to the customer during the quoting process.
  • maximize the chances of successful implementation by including key personnel in the planning process.
  • sharpen team problem-solving skills and improve communication between employees and management.

What can CIRAS do for my company?

Using your in-house experience and expertise, the CIRAS simulation specialist will show you how to utilize our knowledge and software to design the processes you need. Using a team approach to computer simulation for both static and dynamic modeling, CIRAS can help you design, select, and evaluate various process alternatives using a variety of software products.
