Primary Metals

The primary metals industry consists of the production of such metals as iron and aluminium. In Iowa this industry is mainly die casting and scrap metal recycling.

There are 86 primary metals industry employers in the state of Iowa, employing 8,378 people. The primary metals industry contributes $433,000,000 to the Gross State Product, which is 5% of the manufacturing GSP. The distribution of employees by county is displayed below:
