What is biodiesel?
According to the National Biodiesel Board, biodiesel is a domestic, renewable fuel for diesel engines that is derived from natural oils like soybean oil and that meets the specifications of ASTM D 6751. It can be used in any concentration with petroleum-based diesel fuel in existing diesel engines with little or no modification.
What are the benefits of biodiesel?
Using biodiesel in place of petroleum-based diesel fuel results in a significant reduction of pollution from unburned hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and particulate matter. Additionally, exhaust emissions are nearly eliminated when using biodiesel.
